The creative arts have long been a great way in which to develop the creativity, intelligence and confidence of a child. Speech and drama helps children; even shy ones to express themselves and to interact effectively with other people. They learn how to speak in public and how to interact on a social level with their peers and how to solve their issues in an intelligent and creative way since they will develop the opportunity to think outside the box.

Speech and drama helps children to become more self-confident but also to feel accepted. They are allowed to feel comfortable in expressing themselves. Shy children will benefit greatly from working in groups and finally being able to use their voices like never before and to be with and speak to other kids, finally getting out of their shell and interacting with others without fear of being ridiculed. Being in these groups help them to feel proud of themselves as they feel needed by others and useful to others as well.

Speech and drama create an atmosphere that is wonderful for the exploration and expression of the natural talent of children and teach them how to work effectively with other children and will ultimately make their general school life; the social and the academic aspects more successful.

When a child stands on a stage and recites their lines, this goes a far way in helping them to speak in public and to hone their public speaking skills. They also gain the confidence it takes to stand up in front of a group of people and express themselves in a way that is creative and different. Children who are naturally shy learn how to conquer their fears when they are involved in speech and drama, something they would not have been able to do, or it would have been difficult to do if they were not involved in the arts.

Albert Einstein deemed imagination to be even more essential than knowledge, but in our case we feel that they go hand in hand. However, children are encouraged to use their creativity to learn in a way that is fun and different. Speech and drama are even used as a means of solving problems and finding ways and means by which to deal with their issues in a way that is different yet very effective. They are taught to think outside the box in dealing with everyday issue by the use of speech and drama.

Speech is the verbal interaction between human beings while drama is the use of acting is the expression of speech. May children have issues with speaking in public or being able to easily relate in a social way to their peers. When this is happening with a child they are usually dealing with anxiety, a fear of being teased or being in the spotlight. If these issues are not dealt with, then they can continue into adulthood.

Both speech and drama is a great way in which to help a child, whether they are shy or not, to express themselves, and they can do so in their classrooms. Drama and speech helps with the developing of their skills via prose and poetry and also help them to better appreciate the arts as well as literature.

Their ability to converse, their confidence, their social skills as well as their self-esteem is usually developed through speech and drama and empathy for others is also gleaned from being involved in speech and drama and children also get to see and experience the world from other people’s perspective.

This is why it is important that schools have speech and drama class for kids as the benefits are many. There is not many other ways in which to greatly impact on both the communication skills as well as the self-esteem of a child at the same time. Drama and speech is also a way for children to have fun and to enjoy using their imagination as they engage in drama.

Speech and drama speaks to a multiplicity of intelligences as spoken to previously, and due to the fact that children do have different learning styles, these two means of expression are very good ways of bringing out the intelligence in children and catering to their different learning styles as well, and do so in a fun but structured way to ensure that learning does take place.

The speech and drama class for kids should be set up in such a way so that the children are completely engaged; in music, using their minds and bodies and their words to express themselves and to learn. This is how both teachers and parents will learn what a child’s personal learning style is and therefore help them to zone in on it and to fully develop their talent in the process as well. This may even end up being what your child wants to do in the future as a career as well.

As parents and educators acknowledge in our changing world, English is not necessarily the dominant language, as programs offering Chinese for kids have become overwhelmingly popular. China today boasts the fastest growing national economy, the fourth largest in the world, recently surpassing Great Britain and no longer a sleeping giant. The Chinese, with a population of approximately 1.3 billion people, seems eager to extend their influence across the globe, thus presenting Singapore with new challenges and opportunities.

To address the pressing issue of “Will our children be ready to meet—and compete with—the new kids on the block?” programmes with Mandarin Chinese for kids have been initiated in many elementary schools. This thrust to help children learn Mandarin Chinese prepare for the awaiting world, contrasts with the comparison of ten years ago.

Early Exposure in Chinese for Kids is Important

It is a fact that exposure to a second language at an early stage significantly increases the chances of fluency and one acquiring a local accent. This is critical in Mandarin Chinese for kids who want to take advantage of this ‘window of opportunity.’ Although parents may consider Chinese for their kids a daunting challenge, it is the language most spoken in the world. Many Westerners think of Chinese as an exotic and difficult language, but children frequently respond with enthusiasm and excitement.

There is much you can do to support your child’s class-time activities if he is learning a new language—or continuing one he’s already experienced. First of all, ask questions about what they learned, be excited at their new exposure and encourage them to apply it to things at home, or when talking to or about friends. This critical input from you, your enthusiasm will let your child know that you’re pleased with the effort at school and you do not have to know the language or speak it fluently to do this.

It is an enormously rewarding experience when learning a language, regardless of age. Children gain the most from this wonderful sojourn although language learning is an enriching experience for all ages. To benefit from the widest possible set of benefits and opportunities it is best to start early.

Language is something that one explores, or play as all children intuitively understands. Their infectious and effective enthusiasm is manifested in the almost miraculous quickness with which they pick up their first language, and a joy for parents to watch as their children grow. Parents can attest to the fun manifested by their children as they sing new words, invent new ones with huge, bright smiles. Children explore their first language with a joy that suggests that childhood is the ideal time for learning a second language.

While this list does not exhaust the number and variety of advantages of starting a language early it does highlight some of the more notable.

It is a fact that students who have studied a foreign language, proven by many reports, perform much better on standardized test such as SAT, than their monolingual peers. The report, College Bound Seniors that is published by the College Board that administers the SAT demonstrated in 2007 the significant benefits of studying a foreign language. An analysis showed that students who had at least four years of foreign language study, on average scored 140 points more (out of the maximum 800) than their peers with six months or less experience on the Critical Reading part of the exam, and in the Math Section, almost another 140 scored 150 points and higher on Writing.

Better advanced reading skills: From a study commissioned by York University in Canada, It was concluded that bilingual children had an advantage in learning to read. The advantage of being able to apply insights and experiences of one language to the other continually grew as they got older. Being able to read two languages is a in itself very impressive.

Greater confidence: Learning a new language, at any age, is a uniquely rewarding experience, and children are great explorers. The feeling of accomplishment felt with their first steps toward a second language inspires them on to a deeper and broader passion for learning in general. This special “window of opportunity” exists for at this stage language learning is intuitive, natural, encourages a pleasurable experience and a desire for new discoveries that will boost their confidence.

Music is often taken for granted, but it features extensively in our lives and without it life is very dull. There are a lot of benefits in getting children involved in music and singing classes – here are some inside information.

There are a wide range of music and singing classes accessible for children of all ages. Classes for babies that are based on music are common, bringing babies and parents together, and provide a great introduction to music and the learning benefits it provides. Classes often involve not only singing, example, music and singing is often combined together with baby signing instruction, as these songs helps to develop the learning process for baby sign language or signing.

An excellent skill for children to learn is learning to sing. It’s a medium that they can use for expressing themselves, boost confidence in their own ability, and help to relieve any stress in their life. Music classes for five years and older will assist them to continue enjoying music, try singing various different songs and relate with their peers also. For children who love it, there are always available music performance classes, often including drama and dance also, where the ultimate goal focuses on putting on a performance for parents. Other classes concentrates more on the enjoyment of dinging, although sometimes involve occasional performances. Children can enjoy greatly from learning a musical instrument, and it also can increase the development of important skills.

Here we’ll look at the benefits of learning a musical instrument

Having the ability to play a musical instrument and read music is very satisfying for children and may increase their confidence greatly. Anyone can learn how to play an instrument and, if children have the chance or liking, it’s a possibility that’s worth exploring. Several children enjoy the opportunity to try out activities in the arts and crafts like painting, collages, making model, gluing things and drawing. If your children shows interest in this area, or you believe they could excel at creative hobby, then going to an organized craft class may be the perfect solution.

Craft classes are accessible for children of all ages, but are usually starts from three to five years old, the pre-school age. They can take part in any of the classes, in which children participate in particular activities and crafting, or classes that can be held on a regularly, like for a term, once a week. They provide a good way to try out various crafting techniques in a fun and stimulating environment. It may be things in which your child can develop and improve skills they have already learnt.
